A Little about the Site

Get Away in Style

Set your base at Broad Close Farm, just outside the charming village of Silkstone in South Yorkshire. From our small, well-kept site, you can head straight out on foot or bike into the surrounding woodlands, quiet lanes, and rural trails.

You’ll be right near the Silkstone Waggonway (ideal for gentle strolls and rides), and for the more adventurous cyclists — we’re just off the Trans Pennine Trail, pretty much right at the halfway point. Fancy a bit of local history? You’re close to Pot House Hamlet and the site of the Huskar Pit disaster, both fascinating spots to explore. And if you’re up for a day trip, the Peak District National Park is just a short drive away.

Not feeling too active? No problem. Hop on a train from the local station (a 10-minute walk and part of the scenic Penistone Line) or catch a bus from the village to explore the wider area. There’s loads nearby — from farm parks and stately homes to the National Coal Mining Museum.

And don’t worry — being out in the countryside doesn’t mean going off-grid. A 5-minute walk gets you to the village with two pubs, a steakhouse, and a small supermarket — perfect for grabbing supplies for a BBQ or campfire evening back at the farm.
